Free & Low-Cost Wedding Venues Near Colorado Springs

Beautiful outdoor spaces and public venues where you can say 'I do' for little to no venue fee.

Free Venues That Don't Look Free

Colorado's public lands and parks offer some of the most beautiful wedding backdrops in the country — and many are free or nearly free to use. The Palmer Lake Recreation Area is the standout in the Tri-Lakes area: a lakeside ceremony site with mountain views and no venue rental fee. You'll need a permit, but the cost is minimal.

Garden of the Gods — the iconic red rock park in Colorado Springs — allows small ceremonies in designated areas with a free permit. The sandstone spires and Pikes Peak backdrop create a scene that rivals any $20,000 venue. Several El Paso County parks also allow events with inexpensive permits.

Near-Free Alternatives

Palmer Lake Town Hall starts at just $500 for Palmer Lake residents, making it one of the most affordable indoor reception spaces in the region. The hall provides a charming, functional space with kitchen facilities, and the lake is right across the street for an outdoor ceremony.

The Church at Woodmoor offers a historic ceremony space at budget-friendly rates. For couples open to public park settings, many of the area's trail systems and open spaces — including sections of the Santa Fe Regional Trail — provide beautiful natural backdrops for free, though you'll want to plan around other trail users.

Consider a backyard or private-property wedding as well. Many vacation rentals in the Palmer Lake and Larkspur areas have stunning mountain views and enough outdoor space for a ceremony and small reception — the rental cost covers your venue.

What You'll Need to Bring

Free venues mean no built-in amenities. Plan to bring or rent: chairs (ceremony seating), an arch or backdrop if desired, a portable speaker for music, and a generator if you need power. For receptions at a separate location, coordinate transportation between sites.

Restrooms can be a consideration at outdoor public venues — portable restroom rentals are a worthwhile investment for guest comfort. Palmer Lake Recreation Area has public restrooms nearby, which simplifies this for lakeside ceremonies.

Permits: always check requirements. Even free venues typically require a permit for events, and some limit group size or have specific hours. Apply early — popular dates can fill up.
